Wat is semi-permanente make-up?

Semi permanent make-up or Micropigmentation is a soft and natural form of pigmentation. In a subtle and very natural way we apply pigments in the top layer of the dermis or Stratum Basal. The result is very natural and stays between 2 and 5 years. The color will not change and remains stable

What is the difference with permanent make-up?

Our pigments do not contain iron oxide, heavy metals or nickel. That is why they do not remain "permanently" in the skin or change color but disappear after 2 to 5 years.

What is the method of Dermatopigmentation?

The goal is to make people look better in a very natural way. We look at the shape as well as the positive and negative side of a face. Creating a balance that is completely in harmony, that is what we strive for.

How long does the treatment take and how does it work?

A first treatment takes about 1 ½ hours (of which the pigmentation itself lasts only 30 minutes). First everything is anesthetized with local ointment for 20 min. A facial analysis is made, the design and the color that suit you best are discussed together. When you are satisfied with the design, we start to pigment.

What if I want aesthetic surgery over the years?

When the skin is too much over the eyelids then it is advisable to first perform an upper eyelid correction and then place an eye-liner. The doctor will then inform you when you are ready for your Semi-PMU treatment. Semi-PMU is the ideal complement to aesthetic interventions, the two are closely linked and will reinforce each other's results.

Are there risks associated with a treatment?

As with any treatment, there is a chance of infection, poor wound healing, misplacement of color. At Dermatopigmentation you will receive a professional treatment with a lot of know-how and experience, as a result of which the above risks are reduced to an extreme minimum. In Dermatopigmentation you are in good, trained hands.

Is everything sterile / hygienic?

The treatments take place in private practice where both aesthetic and reconstructive surgeons perform their consultations. Everything meets European standards and every needle is sterile and disposable. In the meantime, everything is disinfected to prevent contamination.

What should I take into account for the treatment?

Color intensity : to get a nice and good result, the color is just a bit darker, keep in mind that the eyebrows will be slightly darker the first days after pigmentation. Do not leave it just before a party or an important event. Do this well before or after.

Hygiene : it is recommended not to go to the pool, sea or sauna until 7 days after the pigmentation.

UV light : It is important that the pigment can heal well in the skin. Sunbed and sunbathing are not allowed the first week after the treatment. So keep in mind your travel plans.

What do I do best before the eye-liner treatment?

Can I keep my makeup right before treatment?

Yes, absolutely we like to see your style and color of eye-liner. In this way we have an idea of ​​how you wear your make-up.

I want my eyelashes to color.

This may take place at least 1 week before treatment or 6 weeks after treatment.

What do I do best before the eyebrow treatment?

Do I bring my own pencil?

If you are used to coloring the hairs with a pencil, take them on the day of our appointment. It is good to see which custom you have to color tone.

Should I epilate my hair before the procedure?

Absolutely not. It is advisable not to epilate the hairs for 4 weeks before the treatment will take place. For the most natural result we do the shaping of the eyebrow.

What do I do best before the lip treatment?

Will I bring my favorite lip color with me?

If your goal is to have your favorite color permanently on the lips, be sure to bring your lipstick. That way we can put together a color like your favorite lipstick.

I have Herpes Simplex (cold sores). Have you ever had a cold sore anywhere?

Then the Herpes Simplex virus is in your body. Only for a treatment of the lips should you mention this you will have to take a doctor's prescription medication a few days before the treatment will take place. Prescriptions are available through Dermatopigmentation . In this way, an outbreak of Herpes Simplex is prevented and the pigment can be nicely healed in the lips. Otherwise, this will be at the expense of the result and multiple side effects will be required.

I have a cold sore on my lip the day of treatment.

The cold sores must be completely healed before you undergo treatment. Under no circumstances will the treatment be able to continue, please inform us in time.

How long will the treatment take?

You are entitled to two treatments in the price, but sometimes one is sufficient. We leave 6 weeks between treatment because an optimal wound healing has taken place. Sometimes it looks like the pigment is gone (after 1 week) this will reappear in the third week. After your first treatment you will immediately receive a follow-up appointment 6 weeks later.

Does the eye-liner treatment hurt?

Thanks to the numbing ointment, you can undergo the treatment comfortably. We can also work with protective eye shields so that you do not have to worry about getting the needle closer. This is mainly recommended when pigmenting the lower eyelid and people who tear very quickly.

Will my eyes swell after the eye-liner treatment?

The swelling is quite minimal and can take place up to 24h after the treatment. At home you can always place Ice-pacs to prevent and reduce swelling.

Should someone take me home after the eye-liner treatment?

After the treatment, your eyes may become more than normal and this can be difficult to drive home. When you have both the top and bottom together, it may be advisable that someone brings you home.

Do I have to epilate my hair for the eyebrow surgery?

Absolutely not. It is advisable not to epilate the hairs for 4 weeks before the treatment will take place. For the most natural result we do the shaping of the eyebrow.

Does the lip treatment hurt?

Thanks to the numbing ointment you can comfortably undergo the treatment. Do not drink alcohol / coffee or tea before treatment.

How will I look after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, the color intensity will be twice as dark as the desired result. This is due on the one hand to the slight swelling and on the other hand because pigment is present on the epidermis. This will remain about 3 days to 1 week.

Can I wear make-up after the treatment?

You should wear no make-up right after the treatment in order to obtain a beautiful wound healing.

How fast will it cure?

The superficial skin layers will heal within 3 days. The deeper layers between 10 and 14 days. The pigment has to be encapsulated by the macrophages of the body. This process needs time. that is why a follow-up appointment will always take place between 4 and 6 weeks.

How does the post-treatment work?

In order to give the pigmentation process an ointment that you can apply 4 x per day for 4 days. After 3 days a membrane or scab will form over the pigmentation instead (do not subtract it will automatically fall off). When crusts or fleece are pulled off, this results in pigment loss. The first 7 days you avoid at the treatment site: make-up, soap, water and rubbing in the eyes. After 1 week it can seem that the pigment is strongly weakened, this is a normal process only after the third week you will really see the result of the pigmentation.

What should I consider after the treatment?

UV light : it is important that the pigment can properly heal in the sunbed, sunbathing, swimming pools and sauna are not allowed the first week after the treatment. So keep in mind your travel plans.

Can I get an MRI scan after the treatment?

Inform your treating physician about your Semi-PMU before having your MRI performed. It is important that the doctor knows where and when you underwent the Semi-PMU. Semi-PMU will not prevent you from undergoing your MRI scan.

Will the color be dark?

Be prepared for the eyes to become twice as dark after pigmentation as the final result. This will fade and become lighter as the skin heals. This will take about 10 days.

Are my eyes swollen and can I still drive the car?

A slight swelling may occur (similar to what you would have cried) but in most cases the swelling is almost invisible. You can certainly drive by car and you can also immediately return to work.

Can I wear contact lenses after the treatment?

You should wear your glasses right after the treatment, the next day you can wear your lenses again. When placing an Eye-Liner, the contact lenses must be removed.

How will my eyebrows look right after the treatment?

Be prepared that the eyebrows after the pigmentation will be twice as dark as the final result. This will fade and become lighter as the skin heals. Count on 3 to 10 days. Keep this in mind when setting a date.

How do my lips look right after the treatment?

After the treatment the lips will be swollen and red. 2 to 5 days after the treatment you can still suffer from sensitivity, tension and dryness of the lips.

What should I avoid after treatment?

With a lip treatment you should avoid salt and spicy food until the lips are healed (7 days). The first 2 days after the treatment you should drink with a straw.

How does the healing process work?

After 3 days the swelling will be complete. And after 1 week the color will already be reduced dramatically on the lips. Around the second week, the color may completely disappear. This will fully healed come back around the 5th week. Hence, the touch-up will take place around the 6th week.

I have Herpes Simplex (cold sores)

Take your medication until 4 days after treatment, prescriptions are available through Dermatopigmentation .
